The Problem with Social Media Strategy

You know the drill: spending hours on a meticulously crafted social media post, hitting publish with high hopes, and then… nothing. Crickets. It’s a common tale for many founders and startup marketers. We all fall into the trap of chasing that viral moment, dreaming of the one big hit that will catapult our brand into the spotlight. But let’s face reality: success on social media isn’t about hitting home runs. It’s about consistently getting on base.

The Moneyball Analogy

Have you heard of Moneyball? The Oakland A’s revolutionized baseball by using data to focus on players who could consistently get on base, rather than those who hit occasional home runs. This strategy, famously chronicled in the book and movie “Moneyball,” is all about small, consistent wins leading to big success.

A winning social media strategy isn’t about going viral every time you post. It’s about showing up consistently, engaging with your audience, and building momentum through small wins. Think of each post as a chance to get on base.

Step 1: Create a Theme for Each Day

One of the best ways to maintain consistency is by creating themed days for your content. This provides structure and makes it easier to come up with ideas.

Step 2: Generate Easy Content Ideas for Each Theme

When it comes to generating content ideas, brainstorm with the team and use tools like ChatpGPT. They help you find trending topics and give you a starting point for your content creation.

Step 3: Use What You Have In-House or From Customers

Leverage the resources you already have. Your team and your customers can be goldmines for content.

In-House Resources:

  • Showcase your team’s expertise: Highlight their knowledge and skills.
  • Share behind-the-scenes content: Give your audience a glimpse into your company culture and processes.
  • Product demos: Highlight the features and benefits of your products.
  • Share testimonials: Let your happy customers do the talking.
  • Highlight user-generated content: Repost photos, videos, and stories from your customers.
  • Feature customer stories: Share how your product or service has made a difference in their lives.

Step 4: Schedule and Be Consistent

Consistency is the secret sauce of social media success and it’s tough. Really utilize the batch production and with an offshore team to make sure a consistent stream of posts are coming. Report on the consistency as a KPI and eventually you’ll start hitting 7 day streaks.

Remember, consistent, small wins build a loyal audience and sustainable growth. Social media success is a marathon, not a sprint. By focusing on these straightforward, consistent strategies, you can build a robust social media presence without the constant pressure of chasing viral hits. Think Moneyball: get on base, and the wins will follow.
