It’s that time of year. Holiday spirit. Winter getaways. Family time. Joy.

Those things are reserved for people outside of the consumer electronics industry.

For us CE folks, we’ve been toiling to make the holidays happen (You think elves made that Alexa?!?) . At the end of Q4, when all the work for the holidays seems to be done — We face CES.

CES is the place to meet anyone who is anyone in the consumer electronics industry. Brands, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, distributors, press, investors, marketing partners, and everyone in between will be there. While some have famously complained about CES, when done correctly — It’s a lot of fun and great for business.

Here’s my to do list

  1. Start booking my meetings. Shine is early stage so I’m mainly meeting with technology partners and manufacturers at this stage. I’m also meeting with a few strategic product partners that could be fun
  2. Start booking the parties. There is a lot of fun to be had when you have a collection of the wealthiest companies on earth throwing parties every night in Vegas.
  3. Book the hotel. There are a lot of options here. I love Harrah’s as it’s cheap and I can walk to the show without the dealing the uber, taxis, or the monorail
  4. Make sure the demo works. This seems to go down to the wire every year when getting the demo working. I don’t get why engineers do this to themselves but I see this play out every year & every year I’m in a hotel room helping fix some stupid bug
  5. Pack your biz cards. Lots of biz cards.
  6. Here’s my hotel pack list:
  • My keurig, coffee pods, and yeti mug (Screw the starbucks line)
  • 2x Chap stick
  • Eye drops
  • Pack of costco waters
  • Pack of cliff bars (I don’t have time to wait around in lines to grab crappy conference food)

See you at CES!!!!
